Join the Chiang Mai Birders on their next outing on July 15th and July 23rd for a chance to see montane forest birds not found anywhere else.

Led by professional guide Somchat Boonta, the trip will take you on a birding adventure to spot some of the rarest bird species in Thailand. From the Snowy-browed Flycatcher to the Pygmy Cupwing, get ready for a day filled with bird sightings.

Doi Inthanon is the most popular birding spot in Thailand, supporting over 500 bird species.

The mountains unique location allows it to support montane forest birds not found elsewhere. With a height of 2565 metres, it is 300 metres higher than anywhere else in Thailand, making it the perfect habitat for a variety of bird species.

The trip will start at 5.30am at Hang Dong, where participants will meet and carpool to the destination. The birding will continue until lunchtime, giving you ample time to spot as many bird species as possible.

What to Expect on the Trip

On the trip, you can expect to see a variety of bird species, including the Snowy-browed Flycatcher, Dark-sided Thrush, Himalayan Shortwing, Rufous-throated Partridge, Silver-eared Laughingthrush, Yellow-bellied Flowerpecker, Pygmy Cupwing, and many more.

The trip will be led by professional guide Somchat Boonta, who will share his expertise and knowledge of the local bird species. The trip will start early in the morning, giving you the best chance to spot the birds when they are most active.

You will also have the opportunity to carpool with other bird enthusiasts, making the trip a great way to meet new people who share your passion for birdwatching. The trip will last until lunchtime, giving you plenty of time to explore the beautiful surroundings and spot as many bird species as possible.

Guide fee: Boonta’s guiding fee of 3,500 baht will be divided by the number of participants (max of 10)
National Park entrance fee: 300 baht
Driver contribution: A contribution to the driver for fuel would be appreciated
